Working with over 400 businesses nationwide, we can turn any space into an accurate and immersive digital twin to help companies better design, build, manage, and promote their most valuable assets.
At Point3D, we strive to make everything about designing, building, managing, and promoting a space easier and more efficient. We support industries from residential and commercial real estate, retail, and hospitality to architecture, engineering, and construction – and are looking for a Field Technician to help us execute our in-field operations and provide outstanding customer service. As a member of our robust Operations team, you’ll become proficient in the latest reality capture technologies we use in the field, gain exposure to various software and workflows, form a strong technical grounding in our products, in addition to receiving plenty of mentorship and training.
We are looking to grow our dynamic Operations team by adding an outgoing self-starter who has experience in any reality capture technology while having impeccable problem solving and customer service skills. We are actively growing our marketing, sales and operations teams with people who are passionate about technology, have a willingness to learn, and want to make an impact.
ROLE
As a Field Technician, your role will be to effectively “capture” data of existing building conditions in the field by implementing a variety of technology and techniques. Responsibilities also include working with our Virtual Design and Construction team to create meaningful workflows and outputs using these technologies. Examples of some of the technology you will be using on-site include 3D virtual tours (infrared scanning), 3D laser scanning, disto measuring, 360-degree photography, aerial drone photography (UAVs), and HDR photography. This role will work a minimum of 24 hours per week.
Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform on-site 3D laser scanning, infrared scanning (3D virtual tours), photography and drone/UAV capture of interior and exterior spaces (all training provided)
- Plan workflow and execute procedures for fieldwork with confidence (from device setup, basic operation, to working with alignments, errors, and site control)
- Post-processing and registration of 3D laser scan data using Lecia Cyclone Register 360 and Autodesk Recap
- Communication and interaction with project teams and clients to ensure the full scope of the project is captured
- Become project point of contact responsible for the activities, developments, and challenges/issues concerning field operations
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for a flexible, detail-oriented individual that will relish performing in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, with the ability to multi-task, produce quality deliverables, and meet project-based deadlines. The successful candidate will possess:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Architecture, Photography, Engineering, Construction Management, Broadcasting, or related program is preferred but not required
- Ideally 1-3 years of hands-on experience with reality capture technology (3D Laser Scanning, Matterport, Photogrammetry, Surveying). However, the successful candidate will be trained in all services offered
- Flexible in their schedule (minimum 24 hours per week), willing to travel
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Tech savvy, resourcefulness, and the ability to “figure things out”
- Looking to find a position with a team to grow with long-term
- Professional and willing to communicate with clients
REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to routinely lift 25lbs
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and environments
- Frequent squatting, kneeling, climbing and the ability to walk long distances
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must be legal to work in Canada
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and ideally, access to a car
