Watson's Mill

Making Dangerous Areas Accessible For All

Showing the still-functioning aspects of Manotick’s flour mill was the main focus of our scan at this Ottawa heritage site. We created a immersive digital experience that allowed areas not normally accessible to the public, available to explore. This includes upper mechanical rooms of the flour mill and its’ cordoned-off water pump area.

The 3D Tour is served online on the museum’s website and in-person on a computer, allowing those with mobility issues the freedom of virtually-visiting upper and lower floors.

Matterport 3D Tour
Using the Matterport Pro2, we scanned the entirety of Watson's Mill. This included areas normally inaccessible to the public, and waist-deep in water from the Ottawa River.
Google Street View
The scan was uploaded to the Google Maps platform as a Google Street View Trusted tour. These 360 images are prioritized by Google and compliments the Watson's Mill Google My Business profile.
4K And Panoramic Images
We produced 4k images and 360 photos of the flour mill, providing them with high-quality content of their space to share online and in future printed materials.
On-Site Delivery
We consulted with the organization to come up with a feasible solution to on-site delivery of the 3D Tour. With costs and intermittent internet being the main issue drivers, we assisted with the procurement of a suitable computer station and wired internet connection to deliver the 3D Tour for accessibility of upper and lower areas on-site.

Ocean Plastics Lab

Extending Campaign Lifecycle And Reach

We created an immersive digital experience for the global Ocean health awareness project led by Dr. Julia Schnetzer that visited Ottawa at the end of its six country tour.

The Ocean Plastics Lab was originally funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the German Marine Life Consortium, and the European Commission.

The exhibit Matterport 3D Tour features four seacans packed with multimedia information and is now a key digital asset used in securing additional government funding.

Matterport 3D Tour
Normally, an exterior Matterport 3D Tour is not possible. However, under certain conditions and our expertise scanning with the Matterport Pro2 camera, we were able to make it happen. We scanned the entirety of the science exhibit, set up just outside of the Nature Museum in downtown Ottawa. The resulting 3D Tour is an excellent digital resource for the initiative, allowing those who could not see it in-person the ability to still learn about plastics and ocean health.
3D Walkthrough Video
Using our extensive knowledge of the Matterport 3D Tour platform, we screencaptured a walkthrough of us traversing through the digital space. The resulting video was used to show project stakeholders the setup and to help promote funding for future tour stops.
4K And Panoramic Images
We produced high-quality images of the space for promotional purposes. We also delivered panoramic images that were posted to Facebook natively, allowing users to look around a 360 photo right on their browser or Facebook App.

Bytown Museum

Allowing the oldest stone building (1827) in Ottawa to be completely accessible to both a wider audience online and on-site to the mobility-challenged.

A Feasible Accessibility Solution

At the request of the Bytown Museum, we embarked on a mission to bring accessibility and digital exploration of Ottawa’s oldest stone building and its story to a wider audience.
