Over the past five years, Point3D has amassed a portfolio of 3D virtual tours for Ottawa’s cultural and heritage spaces. Many Ottawa museums are temporarily closing their doors to the public as the virus begins its spread in Canada. In an effort to “flatten the curve” of the spread, large gatherings of more than 250 people should be avoided. Cultural landmarks are frequently traveled and right now it’s safest for visitors and staff members to social distance themselves.
Right now, many museums and galleries in Ottawa such as the Bytown Museum have closed until further notice.
With all that new-found time at home, you can still visit Ottawa museums virtually. Many forward-thinking Ottawa museums have ‘gone digital’, digitizing exhibits and artefacts with the latest imaging technology to create 3D models and immersive virtual reality experiences. With exhibition space available for 27/7 viewing, visitors can walk the different areas and learn more about specific artefacts.
